The Reluctant Blogger

My husband and I recently started watching The Reluctant Traveler, staring Eugene Levy. It’s his journey to amazing locations around the globe learning about the local culture and most importantly challenging his own “reluctance” to visit new places, try new things and face his fear of getting off the beaten path. As he readily admits, he likes his creature comforts and the safety of his hotel.

It got me thinking about my own reluctance. Honestly…I’m doing it right now…writing a post for others to read. Ugh. Writing is not my favorite thing. In fact, I was the queen of procrastination in school when it came to writing papers. I would dread it SO much, that I would even clean my room before starting on a paper!

As I reflect though, I think it is more about the getting started part of the process more than anything else. What will I write about, what can I discuss that's relevant and timely, and honestly, who even cares what I have to say? I guess learning the answers to those questions is all part of the journey.

So…here is to venturing off the comfortable path from reluctance to acceptance and new experiences discovered in the journey.
